Vice President / Performance Improvement

The Vice President, Performance Improvement will be tasked with managing and supporting the performance improvement initiatives of our clients or our clients’ portfolio companies.  Working in tandem with our private equity clients and/or portfolio company management and Palm Tree team members, the role will focus on enhancing the quality and efficiency of key business processes such as: F&A workflows, FP&A reporting, ERP and related accounting software systems, and cost management, with a focus on driving sustainable improvements that reduce cost and improve profitability and cash flow generation.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • General management of engagements and client relationships, guiding execution, providing direction and assigning tasks to colleagues, and communicating with clients throughout the process
  • Design and develop work streams, often involving complex quantitative analysis and detailed financial models to drive financial and operational insights
  • Conduct diagnostic interviews to understand client capabilities and gaps and create process flow documentation
  • Design and execute transformation plans, which improve EBITDA, working capital and cash flow
  • Develop and implement both revenue and cost performance improvement solutions tailored to clients’ needs
  • Advise and assist clients with functional processes during crises or abrupt changes in management during interim periods
  • Perform detailed analyses and synthesize actionable insights from data sets and unstructured information sources
  • Perform final quality control of client deliverables and lead the presentation of deliverables
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate the status of ongoing engagements to senior Palm Tree staff, escalating issue appropriately as they arise
  • Participate in developing client relationships and other business development functions
  • This position requires 35%–75% travel

Qualifications & Requirements:

The candidate should have 5­ ‐ 10 years of prior work experience from an investment banking, either bulge-bracket or well-known, boutique investment bank, accounting firm, or consulting firm as well as recent experience working with private equity, M&A and transaction services, corporate finance, or FP&A.  The candidate should possess an undergraduate degree, preferably in Business, Accounting, Finance or other related quantitative fields and a graduate degree in accounting, finance or business, such as a MAC or MBA.  Additionally, the candidate must have strong technical skills, proficiency using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and possess the following:

  • Experience must include working with 3-statement models, end-to-end financial processes, 13-week cash flow models, cost-cutting efforts, project-based finance, and process mapping
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to provide straightforward, solution-­‐based alternatives for complex problems
  • Excellent written, presentation, leadership, and interpersonal communications skills
